New Beginnings

Hello, and Happy New Year. I know it may seem strange that I have recently retired and am writing my first blog post about starting something new while also advocating for slowing down in retirement. It’s true—it’s a bit of an oxymoron.

I have always had that creative bug in the back of my brain. Seldom am I more than a few feet away from something tangible I can hold in my hands to stitch, a book to read, or a journal to write in. Fortunately, my better half is very understanding of the ramifications of this. I am extremely lucky that he is so willing to go along with whatever outlandish idea I have conjured up this time. Sometimes it involves his brawn or his woodworking skills. Nevertheless, he jumps right in and supports me.

I am also very lucky to have an extremely talented daughter, Annie. Her artistic talents know no limits—at least none that I have witnessed. We mentor each other in our creative pursuits. She is my cheerleader, and I am hers. Further along in this new adventure, I hope to interview Annie and hear her thoughts on being a busy mom, working full-time, all while being such a creative being whose energy seemingly knows no bounds. I am frequently in awe.

I hope in the future you will enjoy popping in to see what’s new in my shop. I have some exciting ideas I’m eager to get going on. Until then, thank you for supporting me and taking an interest in my new adventure. Happy New Year, and I will post again soon.
